WINDOWS VS MAC OS VS LINUX VS BSD WINDOWS 10
Windows 10 looks promising so I would go down the PC path if I were you. But I would say go for PC if you have used it your entire life. If you dont like it then try OSX if youre really interested in it. If you want my advice, try Ubuntu or Linux. That being said I hate Apple, but im not going to go saying "APPLE SUCKS LOLOLOLOL" because it might suit your needs, but not mine. (My personal preference, you might think otherwise) I personally dislike it simply because it has lack of some apps I use frequently on Windows, its more limited and I just don't like the User interface. Just build a decent Computer and make it a Hackintosh if you are really really interested in OSX. OSX is nice for image/media related things, from using it a little I found it rather useful for Media and Images.Ä«uying a Mac is a waste of money, they overprice them and get people to spread rumors that they are somehow "better" than hackintosh. Every time Apple does something good, Microsoft turns around and bests that. I truthfully wouldn't even know where to begin to do with in Windows.
In OS X and all other Unix-like operating systems, this can be done by editing the system file /etc/fstab. If you know your way around a Linux system, you can do some very powerful things with OS X that are very difficult to do in Windows, for example, changing which drives are mounted on start up. OS X is based heavily on BSD which is based around Unix, which has set the standard for how almost all operating systems work today, except Windows.
Going back to the original post, I like OS X because it is (in my opinion) a much more elegant OS.

This right away gives you a less restrictive environment than Windows because it gives you full control over all system files. OS X gives you root access if you check a box in the depths of the setting menus. What I find interesting about OS X is that it is more limited than Windows out of the box, but can be configured to be less limited. More limited in a lot of ways compared to windows, but it works well, looks nice and gets the job done.
iMacs use laptop hardware in most cases, so be careful when they say "i5!" and "i7!" because some of those are actually hyperthreaded dual cores from the ULP cathegory, which suck performancewise compared to their desktop counterparts. Before you buy anything from apple, I advise you try and make a pc with the same specs on pcpartpicker, chances are you'd spare a whole lot of money by getting that one. Other people will be of a different opinion, the above is my 2 cents on the matter. Most of the benefits regard stability rather than actual performance.

There are benefits to the OS compared to windows, but you could very well install linux on your pc and have a system which is just as good if not better than mac os.
I kind of see them having a place in an industrial environment where they can't manually build every single pc, but even then there are better solutions amongst OEMs. They're just plain extremely overpriced compared to self-built pcs with the same specs. If you ask me, buying a mac makes no sense, at all, for anyone ranging from a consumer to a professional content creator.
